TESTIMONIES of SALVATION for René and Sonia Einfeldt

Even before He made the world, God chose, among many others, one person named René Allynn Einfeldt, to be His child. It wasn’t until 1952 A.D., over 1900 years after Christ died on the cross in my place, that I was born into this world. I learned at an early age that my parents were missionaries to Central Africa. They had gone there to tell the Africans, who were sinners, the good news of salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. While in the second grade at M.K. ("Missionary Kid") boarding school, the Holy Spirit convinced me that I was a sinner just like all the Africans and just like every person in the world. I was told that Jesus had died on the cross because of my sins and to take away my sins. One night after devotions as I lay on my bunk, I trusted the Lord Jesus as my Saviour and was immediately born from above. God’s sovereign choice in eternity past had finally accomplished its purpose in saving me and the name that my parents had given me now had real significance. The name René, you see, means “reborn” or “born again”. During the latter part of high school and while serving in the U.S. Air Force, the Lord gave me the desire to serve Him on a full-time basis. While at Bible College, He directed me to serve Him as a career missionary, and then directed me to Sonia who also wanted to serve Him. After her graduation from Bible College we were married on July 10, 1976. God has graciously allowed us to serve Him as a couple since that time.

I was born and grew up in a Christian home and I thank the Lord that I heard of Him from my earliest remembrances. I grew up just feeling a "part” of Christianity and a "part" of our church. It was not until I was very active in our church, and working at our church camp, that the Lord spoke to me in a personal way convicting me of my PERSONAL need for salvation. I knew it in my head, but that weekend, I realized it in my heart. I was convicted of my need to personally trust Christ’s work as for me. I was to sing in a trio on the camp island that night, but we had forgotten the flashlight in the cabin and we couldn’t see the words to the song. I went back to get the flashlight and while there, knelt by the bunk and trusted Christ before returning to the island. It was actually shortly after my salvation that, as I was sitting in a service at our church, and reading my Bible in John 15, that I felt that God could use me as a missionary and right then I surrendered to Him that if He wanted to use my life in that way, I would be willing. He continued to open doors of service, first in my home church with a very ministry-active youth group, and then opened the way for me to go to Bible college, where I majored in missions. During my last year at Bible college, René came to Baptist Bible College right out of the United States Air Force, and shortly after he began school, we began dating and got married the following summer. It has certainly NOT been a dull life, being a missionary in 3 different countries in Africa! It has been wonderful to serve the Lord together!
